Scriptwriter and film director. Co-directed the documentary “Refugiados” for UNHCR – The United Nations Refugees Agency - and “TV Justiça”, and “Retratos de uma Lei”, a documentary that has its focus Maria da Penha’s history, a real character whose name was given to the law against domestic violence in Brazil. In 2007 , his documentary “Anjos da Justiça”, a documentary about the effort of women from poor comunities that unite themselves to have access to the law and don’t let themselves be abused by their husbands, won the Vladimir Herzog Human Rights Award.

Studied film at the prestigious international film school in Cuba, La Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión (EICTV). Specializing in international documentaries, he worked for the UN in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish and possessing a working knowledge of French and German, Ivan has extensive experience in multicultural environments. He worked in conflicts and post conflict areas such as Lebanon, Burundi, Rwanda, East Timor, Mozambique, Angola, Cambodia and others.
